Study regarding best practices carried out to implement the recommendations contained in the annual reports of the Special Rapporteur on the rights of indigenous people, Rodolfo Stavenhagen (2007)

The study concludes that, while the Special Rapporteur’s reports have had an important impact in some countries, the recommendations incorporated in his reports do not generate automatic and speedy changes in the situation of the rights of indigenous peoples.

Regarding the situation in Colombia, the report notes the threat of extinction of over 12 small groups of indigenous people as a result of armed conflict, illicit crops of coca and environmental destruction.
