This report presents the findings and recommendations of the Working Group on its mission to Honduras. It expresses concerns regarding the phenomenon of the violent youth gangs (maras) responsible for a number of murders, extortions, robberies etc. However, the Special Rapporteur disapproves the disproportionate sentence for the members of youth gangs (a term of imprisonment of 12 to 20 years for simple membership in a mara).
