Report of the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions: Mission to Sudan, Asma Jahangir (2004)

This report contains the findings and recommendations of the Special Rapporteur on her mission to Sudan. She expresses concerns about the high number of extrajudicial killings, many of them being carried out by the armed forces of the Government and the Government-backed militias. She also condemns the special courts, which deal with drug-related offences and sentence a lot of people to death. Fortunately, these courts were abolished.

She recommends that the national legislation concerning the death penalty should be revised in order to ensure that it conforms to international standards.
