Report of the Special Rapporteur, on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions:Summary of cases transmitted to Governments and replies received , Asma Jahangir (2004)

This report presents the summaries of cases transmitted to the Governments and the replies received from them. In relation to drug issues, the report mentions allegations of:

  • torture of a woman in a drug rehabilitation centre in China
  • executions of persons charged with drug-related offences in Iran and Singapore
  • torture of drug dealing suspects  in Serbia and Montenegro
  • extortion of  bribes by the police officers from persons involved in drug trafficking in Ukraine

The Special Rapporteur also expresses concerns in relation to the law enforcement operations of the Thai authorities aimed at reducing the drug trade within the country but which resulted in many deaths and arrests.
