This includes the summary from the 56th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs. Addressed and highlighted from the session are several human rights specific areas including: the approval of the draft resolution UN Guiding Principles on Alternative Development; a resolution to combat opiates originating in Afghanistan with full respect of human rights; a resolution to counter trafficking in West Africa with full respect of human rights. Additionally, speakers at times also noted the importance of human rights and mainstreaming in drug control programs throughout the session.
