UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Concluding Observations on Finland (2007)

The Committee issued these concluding observations after reviewing Finland’s fifth periodic report in 2007. In paragraph 18, the Committee expresses concern about alcohol and drug abuse as well as the high incidence of mental health disorders, particularly among youth. In paragraph 27, the Committee urges Finland to strengthen its efforts to prevent drug and alcohol abuse and to address ‘the root causes of mental health disorders’ among the country’s population. The Committee also requests that Finland provide information on the progress made in these areas in its next periodic report.
