Rodríguez Orejuela v. Colombia, UN Human Rights Committee (2002)

The Author of the communication is Mr. Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Orejuela, a Colombian citizen who was convicted for drug trafficking in Colombia. Applying to the Committee he claimed that his right to fair trial was violated because he was tried by an incompetent court, his trial was conducted in camera, in his absence and mostly in written form in violation of the Article 14 of the Covenant.

After the consideration of the communication the Committee found a violation of the right to fair trial of the Author.
