Report of the Special Rapporteur on the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, Paul Hunt (2004)

Date: 16 February 2004

One of the themes discussed in this report is poverty and the right to health. The Special Rapporteur notes the importance of access to essential medicines and welcomes a recent Canadian initiative that may improve such access in low-income countries by making it 'easier for Canadian companies to produce, and developing countries to import, generic drugs at lower cost'.
