Report of the Special Rapporteur on the right to health: Expert consultation on access to medicines as a fundamental component of the right to health, Anand Grover (2011)

This report 'contains a summary of the discussions held and the recommendations made at the expert consultation on access to medicines as a fundamental component of the right to health'. The report concludes that facilitating access to medicines is a shared responsibility between states, pharmaceutical companies, and other national and international actors. The SR outlines recommendations for increasing access to medicines, including establishing an adequate legal framework and ensuring that health priorities are not weakened in favour of investment or business priorities. (Note: no mention is made of palliative care medicines or drug dependence therapy drugs)
