Report of the Special Rapporteur on the right to health:Summary of cases transmitted to Governments and replies received, Paul Hunt (2007)

Date: 23 February 2007

The report notes that the Government of Norway replied to the letter sent on 11 October 2005 by the Special Rapporteur and emphasised that the right to health, including access to medicines, is fully integrated in all aspects of its policy, including trade policy.

It is also noted that in Turkmenistan there has been a grave deterioration of the health care system which is threatening access to essential medicines, and concerns were raised about access to potable water and sanitation, and increases in intravenous drug use, sex work and sexually transmitted infections that evidenced the potential for an HIV/AIDS epidemic.
