Report by the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions: Mission to Brazil, Philip Alston (2008)

This report contains the findings and recommendations of the Special Rapporteur on his mission to Brazil. He highlights the challenges faced by the country in fighting with the violence of gangs involved in drugs and arms trafficking and other organized crimes. However, he expresses concerns regarding the police operations which result in many extrajudicial killings, but without arresting the most important drug dealers and traffickers or seizing their arms and drugs.
