Report of the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions: Mission to Guatemala, Philip Alston (2007)

Date: 19 February 2007

This report contains the findings and recommendations of the Special Rapporteur on his mission to Guatemala. He expresses concerns about the increased murder rate and the level of impunity within the country. He criticizes the presence of corruption among the police and the military, tending to believe that they are involved with drug traffickers, organized crime and clandestine groups, as the Ministerio Publico does not investigate any cases against drug traffickers in the military.
