UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, Concluding Observations on Vietnam (2012)

Date: 22 August 2012

The Committee issued these concluding observations in 2012 after its consideration of the periodic reports of Vietnam. It expresses concerns regarding the administrative detention imposed on children with drug addiction, where they are subjected to ill-treatment/torture and to forced labour.

It recommends developing alternatives to detention for children with drug addiction including child rehabilitation and reintegration programmes and also investigating all instances of ill-treatment in drug detention centres (paragraphs 43,44, 63 and 64).
