Jorge Odir Miranda Cortez et al. v. El Salvador, IACHR (2000)

The Commission granted precautionary measures on behalf of 27 individuals in El Salvador seeking access to essential medicines for the treatment of HIV/AIDS.  The Commission requested the State to provide at once, access to anti-retroviral medication as well as the accompanying nutritional and pharmacological care required.  Four months later, the State authorized funding for triple anti-viral treatment for all with HIV/AIDS and began treatment of the complainants.
