Mirey Trueba Arciniega v. Mexico (Admissibility Decision) IACHR (24 July 2008) Report No. 48/08

Mirey Trueba Arciniega, a 20 year old Mexican national, was gunned down by members of the military following a traffic stop.  The military was active in the region pursuant to federal authorization to prevent drug trafficking.  The military exercised jurisdiction over the investigation and trial of one officer and the family was denied access to the proceedings or access to civil remedies.  The Commission held that the case was admissible for consideration.
