Report of the International Narcotics Control Board for 2004: Integration of Supply and Demand Reduction Strategies (2005)

 This article is an excerpt from 2004 INCB Annual Report. It discusses the issues related to the strategies on reduction of demand and supply of illicit drugs. The first part of the article reviews the market perspectives and attempts to assess the role of the illicit as well as licit drug markets. The second part addresses the goals of supply and demand reduction strategies. Further the article discusses the relationship between supply and demand, and national prospectives on the reduction strategies. The fifth part addresses the importance of cooperation between the criminal justice, health and social agencies for the purpose of reduction of supply and demand. The article concludes with recommendations to all relevant stakeholders.
