Substance Abuse Treatment and Care for Women: Case Studies and Lessons Learned (2004)

This report published by the United Nations Office and Drugs and Crime (UNODC) provides an overview of the situation of gender sensitive treatment for women drug users. It highlights the existing literature from a  number of databases from 1998 to 2003; guidelines used by stakeholders in addressing the situation of women drug users; case studies and recommendations from relevant intergovernmental stakeholders; as well as information provided by panel of experts at a meeting in UNODC's headquarters in Vienna (2003). As mentioned in the report,  the main focus of the publication is treatment for women using illicit substances, according to UNODC's mandate.
