UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Concluding Observations on Colombia (2001)

Date: 29 November 2001

The Committee issued these concluding observations in 2001, after reviewing the fourth periodic report of Colombia. In paragraph 757, the Committee notes with concern that inequalities, social injustice, and drug trafficking have led to serious violence in Colombia. In paragraph 760, the Committee expresses concern about the increasing number of internally displaced persons, who are often members of disadvantaged and marginalized groups, and notes in particular the displacement of populations due to the spraying of illicit crops under “Plan Colombia”.
