UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights: Concluding Observations on the Russian Federation (2003)

Date: 28 November 2003

The Committee issued these concluding observations after its consideration of Russia’s fourth periodic report on implementation of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in 2003. In paragraph 478, the Committee notes continued concern at ‘the spread of drug addiction’ in Russia. In paragraph 506, the Committee recommends that Russia implement programmes to prevent and fight drug abuse, particularly among youth and ‘the worst affected regions of the country’, and asks Russia to include information on drug abuse in its next periodic report.
