Somsanga’s Secrets: Arbitrary Detention, Physical Abuse, and Suicide inside a Lao Drug Detention Center (2011)

The Report examines conditions in the Somsanga Treatment and Rehabilitation Center in the capital of Lao Peoples' Democratic Republic revealing human rights violations of the detainees including arbitrary detention, lack of formal legal hearing or trial,  physical abuse and inhuman and degrading treatment. According to the Report, the Center is as a convenient dumping ground for population that are deemed "undesirable". In addition to drug users, homeless people, street children and people with mental disabilities are detained in Somsanga.
