In this press release, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pillay, urges States to reconsider drug control from a human rights perspective. Notably, she indicates the failure to respect human rights in responses to drug control would contravene obligations under the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotics Drugs.
